Silesia City Center

Silesia City Center [ saɪli ː ˌ zjə sɪtɪ sentər ] is the name of one of the largest regional shopping Zentrumen in southern Poland.

Location

The Silesia City Center was built on the ul Chorzowska 107 in Katowiceer district Dąb. On the grounds of the disused coal mine Eminence / Gottwald / Kleofas. Opposite is the former ironworks Baildon.

History

The Hungarian TriGranit investor took over the site of the old colliery and began construction of the shopping center, which opened in November 2005. The Investing Transportation assets amounted to 600 million euros. It had a retail space of 68,000 m². 2010 began with an expansion of retail space for more 20000 m². This was completed in October 2011. A further expansion is planned. In May 2013, the SCC was sold to a consortium led by the Alliance for 1.7 billion zloty, the SCC is now managed by ECE which is also part of the consortium.

Facility

The center was built on an old colliery site with parts of the old industrial buildings renovated with the hoistway and were integrated into the new complex. In one of the old building now the Chapel of Saint Barbara is housed. Overall, it has an area of ​​86,000 square meters and is home to various shops. Also located in the shopping center a spacious food court and a multiplex cinema. Anchor tenants of the shopping center are Tesco and Saturn.

The Silesia City Center is built like a small city: it is an open market ( Plac Słoneczny ) and a town hall ( Biuro Zarządu ). There are thirteen shopping avenues that are named after the largest Upper Silesian cities: Aleja Gliwice, Aleja Zabrzańska, Aleja Chorzowska, Aleja Bytomska, Aleja Rybnicka, Aleja Pszczyńska, Aleja Katowice, Aleja Myłsowicka, Aleja Będzińska, Aleja Mikołowska, Aleja Tyska, Aleja Sosnowiecka and Aleja Zagłębiowska. In addition, there are six places: Plac Poetów, Plac Letni, Plac Tropikalny, Plac Slaski, Plac and Plac Muzyków Zimowy. On Plac Tropikalny there is a fountain, which reaches a height of thirteen feet. On the roof of 1000 meters by 450 meters tall building featuring a recreation garden and a panoramic terrace with views of Katowice.
