Silesia national football team

The Silesian football team (Polish Reprezentacja Śląska ) is one consisting of players from Upper Silesia football selection of the Silesian Football Association (Polish: Slaski Związek Pilki Nożnej ). She is not a member of the Football Associations UEFA and FIFA.

History

Until 1939

In March 1920, the ( Polish ) Silesian Football Association was founded in the Autonomous Silesian Voivodeship. The area of the former Silesian Voivodeship and Autonomous Silesian Voivodeship of today are not the same, so that today's Football Association of Silesian Province is only indirectly connected with the team.

Three days after the establishment of the Autonomous Silesian Voivodeship, on June 18, 1920, the first game the team was held in Lipiny, against the club Czarni Lwów from the then Polish Lviv (Polish: Lwów, now Ukraine), the Silesian 3: 8 subject. Between 1924 and 1939 the Polish Upper Silesia played 20 times against the German Upper Silesia. Due to the history of these games were very emotionally charged. On 4 October 1933, the first game against Poland took place. 1937 won the team with 3:4 against the selection of the Basque Country; this was the only game that was not disputed against the selection of the German part of Upper Silesia or in the general Polish Association.

Since 1939

The first game of the selection after the war took place on 15 August 1945 against a team from Warsaw and ended 3-3 draw. The first international game after the war ended, then was held on June 16, 1946 instead of against a selection of the French Army of the Rhine and was won 3-2. After that found games against Czechoslovakia (1948, 2-1 ), China ( 1952, 4:1 ) and Tanzania (1974, 4:1) instead.

On 9 December 2006, a match of the Upper Silesian selection against a Polish national team played for the first time since 1953 instead, it ended 1-1 draw. It was a charity match in aid of the survivors of the mining accident in Ruda Śląska in November 2006. Overall, both teams have played each other four times. It was now up to the last game of choice, over other games is considered. Finally, the team was coached by Antoni Piechniczek, the former coach of Poland, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.
