Silvassa ( Gujarati: સિલવાસા, Marathi: सिल्वासा, Silvassa [ sɪlʋɑ ː sɑ ː ] ) is the capital of the Indian union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. According to the 2001 census, the town has 21,890 inhabitants. Silvassa is located on the river Damanganga about 30 kilometers from its mouth into the Arabian Sea.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli was from 1780 to 1954 a Portuguese colony. The name Silvassa should be derived from the Portuguese word for silva "forest". At the Portuguese time Silvassas remembered today only the church of Our Lady of Piety. The main attraction of the city is the Tribal Museum, which presents the culture of the Adivasi population Dadras and Nagar haveli.
