Silvio Danailov

Silvio Danailov ( Bulgarian Силвио Данаилов, * April 21, 1961 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian chess master, manager of two former FIDE world champion Ruslan Ponomariov and Veselin Topalov and since September 2010 President of the European Chess Union.

Danailov was third at the 1980 European Youth Championships. In 1983 he was split in the Bulgarian championship first, but lost the subsequent playoff against Dimitar Dontschew with 1.5-2.5. In 1984 he obtained the title of International Master. His Elo rating is 2466 ( as of July 2007), but he has played no rated games more since 2000.

Since the early 1990s, is Danailov Manager of Topalov, the FIDE World Champion in 2005. He is also the organizer of the held since 2005 tournament M- Tel Masters in Sofia.

In July 2007, the Ethics Commission of FIDE Danailov spoke out because of his behavior during the World Cup campaign against Topalov, Kramnik a rebuke ( " Reprimand ").

On September 29, 2010 Danailov was elected to succeed Boris Kutin as President of the European Chess Union. He sat down with 30:24 by votes against his competitors Ali Nihat Yazıcı from Turkey.
