Similar motion

As same movement (Latin motus rectus ) refers to the musical counterpoint teaching the ratio of two votes, which ie in the same direction, both either up or down, move. The covert parallel, a similar movement in a perfect consonance, subject to certain limitations.

In the parallel motion, a special case of the same movement, both voices move by an interval of the same class continued, so that the first interval, another of the same genus (eg, minor third to a Major third ) or even follows the same size. The parallel movement to an interval of the same size subject in classical counterpoint theory clear restrictions: parallel major thirds are considered partially parallel perfect consonances ( fifths and octaves) banned as a whole. In the so-called anti parallels actually counter-movement takes place.
