Simon Beaufoy

Simon Beaufoy (* 1966 in Keighley, United Kingdom) is a British screenwriter who was famous for Danny Boyle's film Slumdog Millionaire in 2008, for which he wrote the screenplay. Beaufoy was awarded an Oscar for best adapted screenplay.

Life and work

He graduated from the Arts Institute in Bournemouth.

Another Oscar nomination brought Beaufoy 2011, the renewed collaboration with Boyle on the film 127 Hours, a. The drama tells the story of mountain climber Aron Ralston (played by James Franco), who was killed in a canyon hike in Utah in 2003 and survived only by the self- amputation of his right arm. In 2012 he wrote the screenplay for the fantasy film The Hunger Games - Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games - The Hunger Games.
