Simon Beckett

Simon Beckett (born 20 April 1960 ( according to other sources 1968) in Sheffield, United Kingdom ) is a British journalist and author. He became known by several thriller about the fictional forensic anthropologist David Hunter. His books have been translated into 29 languages ​​and have sold over 7 million times.

Biography

After graduating with a Master of Arts in English Beckett worked as a real estate agent, caretaker, English and Spanish teacher and drummer before devoting himself exclusively to writing. As a freelance journalist, he wrote for The Times, The Independent on Sunday, The Daily Telegraph, The Observer and other publications.

In research, he learned the police work from the inside to know; this applies particularly to his experience with the Body Farm at the University of Tennessee in Tennessee, USA, a research institute for processes of decay. This knowledge he processed in his novels.

Already in 1996 awarded him the German " Raymond Chandler Society " for the novel the Animals Marlowe in the "International" category. His book The Chemistry of Death was released in 2006 and spans to the fictional forensic scientist David Hunter, a criminal history. The novel was nominated for the 2006 Dagger Award. In the summer of 2007, he sat the David Hunter series continues with the novel Cold Ash, in which he discussed and demythologized spontaneous human spontaneous combustion. In early 2009 he released his next novel Leichenblässe who plays in Tennessee and focuses on David Hunter's work on the Body Farm.
