Simon de Faultrier

Simon de Faultrier ( born August 22, 1763 in Metz, † November 24, 1832 ) was a French brigadier general of artillery.

Life

Faultrier came from an old military family: his father and grandfather served in the Royal Army, General François Faultrier de l'Orme was his older brother. Faultrier came as a cadet at the military academy École d'application de l' artillery et du genie his hometown (→ fortress of Metz ).

He then came in an artillery regiment, and in 1781 to lieutenant in 1790 and promoted to capitaine. He fought, inter alia, bravely at Arlon ( 17-18. April 1794 ) and Fleurus (26 June 1794).

On November 22, 1806 Faultrier général de brigade was promoted to. After some time he lay down his more administrative tasks and also returned to active duty. In 1808, he helped enforce the Napoleonic policy in Spain. As a member of the staff of General Pierre Dupont de l' Etang, he participated in the capture of Cordoba (8 June 1808) and fought bravely in front of La Coruña (16 January 1809).

Faultrier was retired in 1812 and he settled in his native town to the ground. As a staunch supporter of Napoleon he had for the policy of King Louis XVIII. and that of his successor, Charles X no interest. He died at the age of 69 years on 24 November 1832 in Metz and found his final resting place.
