Simon de Lalaing

Simon de Lalang (* 1405, † March 10, 1476 ) is the son of Othon de Lalang and Yolande de BARBANÇON. He was Seigneur de Montigny, Saint -Christophe and Hantes, especially as the treasurer and governor, a longtime confidant of the Dukes of Burgundy.

Life

As the youngest son of the family, he was scheduled for a career in the church: in the years 1428 to 1432 he acted as provost at Valenciennes. On the other hand, he was already on November 30, 1431 recorded in the first chapter in Lille, in the Order of the Golden Fleece ( Diplom-Nr. 27), and was one year later, in 1432, one of the signatories of a peace treaty between the Dukes of Burgundy and Lorraine. As captain of the town and castle Sluis (L' Ecluse ) he was able to fend off the siege of 1435, and as a captain of Oudenaarde in 1452.

He also served as treasurer of the Dukes Philip the Good and Charles the Bold, Bailli of Amiens, Admiral of Flanders (1436-1462) and the United Jägermeister ( Grand veneur ). On behalf of the Duke, he mediated with Jean de Croy reconciliation between the Dauphin Louis and his father, King Charles VII, then also took part in 1461 at the coronation of Louis in Reims.

Simon de Lalaings died on March 10, 1476 and was buried in the Abbey of Deinze.

Family

Simon de Lalaings married on June 11, 1441 Jeanne de Gavre, heiress of Brakel and Zalardinge ( today part of Geraardsbergen ), a daughter of Arnold VII, Lord of Schooling cracks ( Escornaix ), and Marie d' Aumont; she died on May 29, 1478 and was also buried in Deinze. Their children were:
