Simon Louis, Count of Lippe

Ludwig Simon of Lippe (* March 14, 1610 in Brake; † August 8, 1636 in Detmold ) was Count of Lippe.

Life

He was the second son of Count Simon VII of Lippe and his first wife Anna Catherine of Nassau- Wiesbaden.

When his father died in 1627, Simon Ludwig was not yet of age, and as guardian of his step-grandfather, Count Christian von Waldeck ( 1585-1637 ) was determined. His uncle, Count Otto zur Lippe -Brake because of the strained relationship between Detmold and Brake and Count Johann Ludwig of Nassau- Hadamar because of his Catholic faith, were not available.

1627 the young count entered in the civil usual grand tour that took him to Prague, France, England and the Netherlands. After his return in 1631 the premature emancipation with the Emperor Ferdinand II was requested.

Under the influence of his Chancellor Christoph Simon Deichmann Ludwig was gradually on the cautious neutral policies of his late father and approached to Sweden. At the age of 26 years, Earl Simon Louis died on August 8, 1636 in Detmold of smallpox.

On June 19, 1631 married Simon Ludwig Countess Katharina of Waldeck ( 1612-1649 ), a daughter of Simon Louis guardian, Count Christian of Waldeck and at the same time a younger sister of his stepmother Mary Magdalene ( 1606-1671 ). From this marriage emerged:
