Simon Sebag Montefiore

Simon Jonathan Sebag Montefiore (* June 27, 1965 in London ) is a British historian, journalist and author. He mainly deals with Russian history.

Life

Simon Sebag Montefiore studied History at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He made ​​several extended trips to the former Soviet Union, especially in the Caucasus, Ukraine and Central Asia. Montefiore lives with his wife and two children in London.

He wrote a biography of Grigori Alexandrovich Potemkin ( a companion of Catherine the Great ) as well as an extensive biography of the Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, which was translated into several languages.
