Simon Thoumire

Simon Thoumire (born 1970 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish Konzertinaspieler, composer and music producer.

Thoumire played at the age of nine years bagpipes in a Boys Brigade. About a sister who was a student of accordion Chrissie Leatham, he came to the concertina. He has performed in various folk clubs and became a member of Hopscotch Ceilidh Band. He is best known as a member of Seannachie, which he joined in 1987 and with whom he recorded two albums. Published in 1990 Thoumire with guitarist Ian Carr his first solo album Hootz. With Kevin MacKenzie and Brian Shiels, he founded the Simon Thoumire Three, a group that combined traditional Scottish music with jazz and their most successful album March, Strathspey, & Surreal appeared in 1996.

With keyboardist Fergus MacKenzie Thoumire, in 1995, the album Exhibit A, in cooperation with the American folk band The Molly Album Trip to Scotland was born.
