Simonida

Simonida Nemanjić ( Serbian Cyrillic Симонида Немањић, born Simonis Palaiologina; * 1294, † 1340) was the fourth wife of the king of Raszien, Stefan Uroš II Milutin. She was the daughter of the Byzantine Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos and Yolande ( Irene ) of Montferrat.

After working out a peace treaty between the Serbian King Milutin and the Byzantine Emperor Andronikos II in 1299 that gave him his daughter Simonida. You should seal the eternal peace between the two states. She was known for her beauty and is still represented in a fresco in the Gracanica monastery. Simonida died in 1340 as a nun. In the Serbian tradition Simonida is delivered as a figure of purity and beauty.

The asteroid (1675 ) Simonida has been named by the Serbian astronomer Milorad B. Protić after her.
