Simple Kid

Ciaran McFeely (* in Cork, Ireland), better known by his pseudonym Simple Kid, is a largely self-sufficient Irish solo artist and musician who published since 2002, lo-fi productions created at home.

History

Before McFeely artist name Simple Kid grew, he founded the age of 17 together with friends the neo- glam band The Young Offenders, which in the UK ( That's Why We) Lose Control had a Top 60 hit single in 1998.

In his apartment McFeely began recording on an 8 -track cassette recorder own songs, of which he subsequently created in computer programs samples, this new mixing your and provide you with sound effects and beats. How McFeely says, resembles this recording technique, only that used by Fatboy Slim, this strange song material. So he deliberately created the outdated acting lo-fi sound of 1960er/1970er-Jahre. Together with the fearless use of different style elements from the rock and pop music recalls Simple Kids therefore also to the equally eclectic musician Beck.

His musical influences range from folk and country music through 1960s as 1990s Britpop à la The Kinks or blur up to the glam rock became the band T. Rex, what first with Simple Kids two singles I Am Rock Truck On ( both 2002) is particularly clear. The latter came in 2004 as a re-release in the UK Singles Chart at # 38

After his first album, which is just one named, and some tour stress, McFeely took a longer break from making music and worked in a video store. His second album, 2, which contains the single serotonin, was released in the UK in October 2006 Country Gentleman Recordings and in August 2007 in the U.S. on Yep Roc Records.
