The Simssee is a lake in Upper Bavaria. He is the last remnant of the Rosenheim lake that extended at the end of the Würm Ice Age to the present area of the Sims lake.

It is located 7 km east of the independent city of Rosenheim, and has a surface of 6.49 km ², the largest lake in the district of Rosenheim. The maximum depth is 22.5 m. Its outflow feeds the Sims. The renewal time of the Sims lake is around one and a half years. Its catchment area covers 59.51 km ².

The northern part of the lake belongs to the municipality of Bad Endorf. In the south the districts Simssee and Baierbach the community Stephan churches border the lake. In the south the districts Ecking and Pietzing bordering the municipality Riede ring. To the northwest lies Prutting, in the north Söchtenau.

The Simssee is nestled in rolling hills with largely untouched reeds and riparian zones. The circumnavigation of the lake can be done on foot or by bike (about 20 km). From Baierbach a well laid out path leads through marsh and reed zones after Ecking. In addition to a campground offer 3 partly free accessible swimming areas and boat landings for sailors recreational opportunities. Parts of the area have been designated as nature and landscape protection area.
