Singapore Exchange

The Singapore Exchange Ltd.. (SGX ) is a futures and securities exchange in Singapore. It was created on 1 December 1999 from the merger of the Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES ) and the Singapore International Monetary Exchange ( SIMEX ). Index of the Stock Exchange is the Straits Times Index.

In 2000, the Singapore Exchange is the first self- publicly traded stock exchange in the Asia -Pacific region. The offer is 2005 through a partnership with the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT ) and supplemented in 2007, the company bought five percent of the Bombay Stock Exchange.

On 31 December 2007 762 companies were listed on the Singapore Exchange. They had a market capitalization of 539 billion U.S. dollars. In January 2009, there were 768 companies, including 313 foreign, listed. The market capitalization stood at 385 billion U.S. dollars.
