Sings Hank Williams is the seventh studio album by the American country singer Johnny Cash. It was released on September 15, 1960 at Sun Records and was produced by Sam Phillips and Jack Clement. In addition to cash, the Tennessee Two, performed music. More Background - musicians were not named.

The title of the album suggests that cash grossed on the album Pieces of Hank Williams. In fact, only four of the twelve songs cover versions of Hank Williams - pieces and all these versions were had been previously published by cash. I Can not Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You) was already on Sings the Songs That Made Him Famous and You Win Again, Hey Good Lookin ' and I Could Never Be Ashamed of You on Greatest! included.

All songs are about love and relationships that are mostly failed ( You Win Again and I Can not Help It). Hey Good Lookin ' is a rather merry -provoking song while I Could Never Be Ashamed of You which is to hold on to his sweetheart. I Love You Because, written by Leon Payne was taken up by many of his contemporaries such as Elvis Presley.

The seven other songs are originals of cash. Folsom Prison Blues and I Walk the Line were already part of his first work With His Hot and Blue Guitar from 1956 and Give My Love to Rose was published in 1957 as a B- side of the single Home of the Blues and was ranked 13 on the country charts achieved. Next in line was on his second album ( Sings the Songs That Made Him Famous ) published in 1957, which is why only four songs on the album up to that point were unpublished. These were Straight A 's in Love ( a song about the school day ), I Love You Because ( a love song ), Come In Stranger ( the greeting of a loved one on its return ) and Mean Eyed Cat ( biting Love Song in the style of Hank Williams).

On 17 June 2003, a CD edition appeared with five other songs. Among them you will Cold Cold Heart also another cover a Hank Williams song.
