Sink

A sink (ugs. also sink ), or sink ( in Austria as " the washing " in Switzerland mainly " sink " ) is usually embedded in the surface, the kitchen work surface and is used for the cleaning of utensils and kitchen materials. Often these basins are made of corrosion-resistant steel ( X6Cr17 or 1.4016 ) or enamelled or powder coated sheet steel, stoneware, ceramics or plastics. Almost all sinks have overflow holes on the top edge to prevent accidental overflow of water. The underside is often noise dampened by a rubber or bitumen coating.

For the catering sinks are defined in DIN 66075-5 ( GN: facilities for catering, sink, dimensions, edition 1975-07 ) standardized.
