Sirpa Pietikäinen

Sirpa Pietikäinen ( born February 19, 1959 in Parikkala ) is a Finnish politician of the National Coalition Party.

Life

After her schooling Pietikäinen studied economics at the Graduate School of Helsinki, where they reached an MBA. Pietikäinen speaks Finnish, English, Swedish and German. Pietikäinen was a member of the conservative National Coalition Party and won a seat in parliament in the Finnish Parliament. From 1991 to 1995 she was Minister of the Environment. Since 2009 she is member of the European Parliament. As a politician, she wrote several articles in Finnish newspapers. From 2000 to 2004 Pietikäinen was president of the organization World Federation of United Nations Associations.

In 1993 she was awarded the Knight Commander Order of the White Rose of Finland.
