At this time the armed forces were planning to buy 1000 such vehicles. Sisu Auto - handed one of the prototypes for testing at the end of the year 1986.

Specifications

Sisu Auto opted for two engine variants: Deutz BF 6 L 913 and Valmet 411 DSJ. The Valmet 411 DSJ engine was built here in four vehicles .. As a gear unit is a ZF-S5-35/2-Getribe and a self-designed two-speed reduction gear used. The axes are portal axles equipped with disc brakes and a tire pressure control system.

Unlike the Masi frame is stiff and the wheels take over a part of the suspension. The front axle is equipped with coil springs, rear axle with parabolic leaf springs.

Properties

The tests showed that the SA -110 was the most suitable for the task. The engine started at -25 ° C. The vehicle drove deep snow and 75-85 cm deep water without problems in 60 cm. It could climb to 30 ° hills and has a slope angle of 25 °. Due to these characteristics, the vehicle was known as the " Unimog killer."

The defects were too small a motor output and a low torque and also to a high noise level; The highest value measured in the cabin was 88 dB. The 9.4 -meter turning circle was considered to be too large and the ratios of the 3rd and 4th gear were criticized.

The excessive price of the vehicle was a reason why the series production was not started because the cost exceeded about 85 % of Masi, and 50 % of Pasi.
