Skálabotnur

Skálabotnur [ ˌ skɔala bɔtnʊɹ ] ( Danish name: Skålefjord ) is a place of the Faroe Islands on Eysturoy at the end of the fjord Skálafjørður. Often the name Skálafjørður is also used for this place. To avoid confusion with the fjord, they agreed on the name Í Skálafirði.

In Skálabotnur is one of the few sandy beaches in the Faroe Islands. The town was founded in the early 17th century, but excavations suggest that it has settled down here earlier.

Today, there is a breed of fry, which is exposed by a half to two years in the aquaculture.
