Skatecycle

The Freerider Skate Cycle is a Snakeboard Funsport -like device, which was developed by Brooklyn Workshop since 2001 and 2010, came on the market. The makers received in 2010 a prize from the Idea Awards. This is a form of snakeboards or wave boards with large wheels ( roller bearing ring ) that enable driving on uneven terrain. The two base plates, are different from a Snakeboard connected by a torsion bar. Characterized the dynamics of a wave boards on the one hand realized halfway on the other hand, however, operating with the snakeboard typical steering motion and the rotary oscillating upper body to accelerate. Unlike a wave board, the foot plates - just like a Snake Board - connected directly to the wheels; that is, at a skate cycle, the feet must rhythmically with each other and are rotated apart again to achieve the same by means of the vibration of the upper body speed. The torque lies in " direction of travel ".

There are basically the same physical forces which are responsible for the acceleration at all wave and Snake board- type devices.

The Skate Cycle currently has no brakes. You have to either jump off, to stop, or risk a daring "Power Slide" twist - like a Duck Jibe.
