Skeletal animation
The rigging is a working technology in the field of 3D animation.
When rigging a so-called skeleton or rig from Bones ( bones) or joints ( joints ) is using an appropriate software constructed which defines how the individual parts of a mesh ( a mesh ) can be moved. Not infrequently, one is based in the construction of the nature of an actual skeleton, for example, forming about a real femur or a real knee after.
After the skeleton or rig has been created, it can be coupled to the mesh, in a further step, the so-called skinning, are often still iron out some minor errors that have occurred during coupling of the mesh to the rig.
