Škoda 1101 " Tudor "

The Škoda 1101 Tudor was the successor of the model 1100 Popular. The two-door compact car was launched in 1946 as a two-door sedan with significantly modernized body from the Czechoslovakian manufacturer Skoda. As in the U.S., this design " Tudor " ( two-door ) was called.

The car had still the front and rear forked skeletal frame of his predecessor, made of welded steel U - profiles with central tube. However, the new body matched the style of the 1940s with integrated in the front fenders headlights and a radiator grille with 5 chrome cross bars. She recalled the bodies of the contemporary Ford sedans from the United States. The water-cooled OHV four-cylinder in-line engine with 1089 cc capacity was acquired by the predecessor and its performance slightly increased to 23.5 kW (32 hp). The transmission, however, was now mounted directly on the engine, transaxle design was therefore abandoned.

After the Second World War began at Škoda initially on a small scale production of prewar models Rapid and Popular 995, 1946 then in large numbers of 1101. Added to this was a further model from 1949, the Škoda 1102 Tudor with steering wheel gearshift. From both models together total 67,000 units were produced.

The production of both models was set in 1952.
