Skovshoved Petrol Station

The gas station Skovshoved is a historic service station in the nearby coastal town north of Copenhagen Skovshoved ( Gentofte municipality ) in the Øresund. The petrol station situated next to the port of the village is run by the Danish gas station chain Uno -X.

History

The Danish architect Arne Jacobsen designed the gas station in the style of functionalism in 1936 on behalf of Texaco. Jacobsen had worked in previous years, the northern of the gas station Klampenborg at the Bellavista housing estate and the Bellevue Theatre. 2003 reconstructed the architectural firm Dissing Weitling - the office was by Otto Weitling and Hans Dissing, who were employed by Arne Jacobsen - the gas station on behalf of the municipality of Gentofte. The tiles on the facade were replaced it.

Shaping

The single-storey, rectangular building is clad externally with white tiles in a vertical orientation. There are two garage doors, were able to drive by the cars in the garage on the north side. Only the west side has windows and doors, through which the cashier is entered. In addition to the windows located on the facade of a clock, which at night is illuminated in red and was installed later. The round, mushroom-shaped roof with a single central column of concrete is white on its underside painted and is illuminated by three lights above the entrance of the building and four headlights on the center column. By this construction, the tank area is indirectly illuminated. The roof is on the road its highest point and falls off evenly to the back.
