Skymetro

The Skymetro is a fully automatic, underground and realized by Poma - Otis air track that connects the central Airside Center with Dock E in September 2003 at Zurich Airport. The train takes two to three minutes for the 1.1 kilometer long, through two separate tunnels under the west runway 10/28 leading track.

Technology

The 1138 meter long track sets from a steel cable drawn Skymetro back on an approximately 0.2 mm thick, generated by air compressors air cushion over a smooth concrete floor. The transport vehicle is ensured compositions with five rope loops which are driven in the two tunnels and two motors A 465 kilowatts in the elongated sweeping two motors à 266 kilowatts, and in the parking hall by a motor of 55 kW. The connection with the pull rope is done per frame by two lateral hydraulic horizontal verschiebaren terminals for positioning over the desired drive cable that is raised.

A special highlight are adapted to the speed of the web images on the tunnel wall, creating a flipbook -like animation is achieved. These short films demonstrate the Alps and a waving Heidi. At the same time yodeling and the beginning of Heidi melody is played.

History

The Skymetro was built as part of the fifth phase of construction in 2001 and first put into operation in 2003.

As of July 2009, the Skymetro was in the context of the construction project " Zurich 2010", which included especially the centralization of security checks and the construction of the security building, expanded and remodeled. Arriving and departing passengers as well as from the Schengen area and passengers from non-Schengen airports are transported newly separated. A breakdown of the stations ensure the continuous separation of the tested and untested passengers after the centralization of security checks. To compensate for the higher usage associated with this division, the three train arrangements were extended from two to three units. For the extension and the supplement was paid to Swiss cable car companies: The three new chassis derived from Bartholet in Flums, the cabins Gangloff in Bern and the company Altdorfer SISAG supplied the electrical controls.

Reception

It is in Switzerland with 6.73 million passengers ( 2010), the most powerful and Swiss with 176 million francs costs but also the most expensive cable car system. It is one of the most complex cable cars and has a high expansion and safety standards on. Thus, the web contains a triple security.
