Slatersville, Rhode Island

Slaterville is a village and a historic district (U.S. Registered Historic District ) within the town of North Smithfield in Rhode Iceland, United States, at the Branch River.

Slaterville was founded in 1803 by entrepreneurs Samuel and John Slater, who acquired land there to build a textile factory. In the following years a small village arose. Many of the houses were built in the first half of the 19th century and convey so today an impression of the historic New England. The place remained until 1900 owned by the Slater family and was sold.

The original factory building burned down in 1826 and was subsequently replaced by the still existing building.
