Sledge hockey

Sledge Hockey (translated: Sled Hockey ) is an ice hockey related disability sport and Paralympic discipline. The field of play, the clothes and most rules of the game are similar to those of ice hockey. The only difference is in the movement, because to move the Sledge hockey player not on skates, but on small sleds. To speed up the players use two short rackets that are occupied at the end with spikes. A game is divided into thirds of 15 minutes each.

Sledge Hockey is operated primarily by physically disabled athletes, in which the mobility of the lower limbs is limited. At national level, but also allows players without physical impairments.

In Germany Sledge Hockey is organized in the German Wheelchair Sports Association, which organizes the leagues play mode.
