Sleeveface

Sleeveface is an Internet phenomenon in which obscure or enhance one or more people body parts with record sleeves (german sleeve ), thus creating an illusion. Sleeveface became popular in social networks. The exact origin of this idea is unknown. A collection of photographs was published on waxidermy.com early 2006, but there are earlier examples of ' Sleevefacing ', including a cover of the magazine and a Mad Sketch in the Adam & Joe Show, in which Gary Numan holding a record sleeve to his face. A " Sleeveface " before the Internet phenomenon was a record cover of DJ J Rocc, whose own cover ( front and back ) is designed as a group Sleeveface. The term ' Sleeveface ' was coined by DJ Carl Morris from Cardiff in April 2007 after photos were taken of him and his friends, where they keep record sleeves before their faces, as they themselves laying on plates in a bar in Cardiff. His friend John Rostron published the photos on the net and started a group on the emerging platform Facebook. From there, the phenomenon spread. John Rostron and Carl Morris published the book Sleeveface: Be The Vinyl ( dt "Be your record", published by Hoffmann und Campe ), which Sleevefaces gathered from around the world that had been submitted via their website www.sleeveface.com.
