Slovak National Theatre

The Slovak National Theatre (Slovak: Slovenské národné Divadlo ) in Bratislava, on the one hand is the oldest and most professional theater Slovakia, on the other, the name of two buildings of this theater - a historic, in the years 1884-86 as a city theater from the office Fellner & Helmer was built on Hviezdoslava course ( Standort48.14233917.110087 ) and, since 2007, a modern on the edge of the city center near the banks of the Danube ( Standort48.14124217.123353 ).

History

The Slovak National Theatre combines the three largest performing arts theater, opera and ballet. It was founded in 1920, after the independence of the former Czechoslovakia. From 1920 to 1945, in the theater, concerts - by an ensemble - given.

The theater was performed in the first years of Czech artists, eg in 1923 to 1930 by Oskar Nedbal. Also, the first piece, which was performed on March 1, 1920 was a Czech " Hubička " by Bedrich Smetana. Since the 1930s, especially since the Second World War, the theater was dominated by Slovak artists.

On 14 April 2007, the new home of the theater was inaugurated, but were two others - built after the Second World War - abandoned. United in the new building are now mainly the branches of the theater, which had to be split into several homes in the past few decades.
