Slussen metro station

Slussen is an underground station of the Stockholm subway below the traffic junction Slussen. It is located in the Södermalm district. At the station, keep the Gröna linjen and Röda linjen the Stockholm subway system and the suburban railway Saltsjöbanan. Subway

The first station was opened on 1 October 1933 by King Gustaf V, as the terminus of the tram line from Skanstull, which was at that time but already built underground. On 1 October 1950, the station was developed into a proper Metro Station as the southern terminus Tunnelbana network. In 1957, the extension of the metro section Slussen Hötorget was inaugurated. The station is located between the stations Gamla stan and Mariatorget ( Röda linjen ) or Medborgarplatsen ( Gröna linjen ). Stockholm Central Station is 1.5 km.

Earlier plans before seen, next to the subway and the Pendeltågzüge, which should take the under construction Citybanan to have stopped at the station Slussen. These plans were however in favor of other routes discarded.

Saltsjöbanan

1936 Slussen was the last stop of the suburban railway Saltsjöbanan. The station was originally called Stockholm- Saltsjöbanan because the name Slussen, however, was significantly more popular among the population, it was renamed later. The station is built architecturally very simple, it consists of a single track with a buffer stop.
