Smashproof

Smash Proof is a hip-hop / R & B trio from the New Zealand city Auckland. Deach, Tyree and Young Sid originate from the south of the metropolis ( Manukau ), where the industrial areas and the poorer city districts are and there is also a stronghold of the New Zealand hip- hop.

Band History

In 2005, the three made ​​for the first time with the song "Ride Til I Die" attention to himself, ran successfully in the clubs. Then once followed individual projects.

Tyree 2006 brought the first solo album entitled " Now or Never " out, which got good reviews and earned him the award for Best Male Artist at the Australasian Urban Music Awards 2007 in Sydney, Australia. His single "Ladies and Gentlemen " along with Deach and the Canadian rapper Kardinal Offishall came in the New Zealand charts at number 21

Young Sid was successful with his debut album " The Truth" in 2007 and reached number 27 on the album charts. In the Best Urban Release category it was nominated for NZ Music Award for Best Urban Album and it has been awarded a Waiata Maori award.

Then work began on the first joint album "The Weekend", which was scheduled for 2009. Earlier this year they released the advance single " Brother", a collaboration with the singer -songwriter Gin Wigmore. The song worked in the New Zealand charts quickly upward, reaching number one in the fifth week. The end of April was the song for the tenth time on the top position and thus led to the NZ charts longer than any other single by a local artist before. Overall remained " Brother " elf weeks at the top and reached double platinum status.

The album " The Weekend " could hold up well against international competition and the end of March rose to number 3 on the album charts.
