Snapper Iceland is an island in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland, about 70 km south of Cooktown and about 21 km north of Mossman before the mouth of the Daintree River. The island is part of the Hope Islands National Park, which also includes the two about 50 km north of Snapper Iceland situated Hope Islands, two small coral islands.

History

On Snapper Iceland you will find all types of forest and sea birds. In the summer months, two-color fruit pigeons live there, who feed from the forests of the nearby mainland.

Facilities

Wild camping is permitted only at West Point, but there are no special facilities for this purpose. There is a picnic area with tables and a toilet on the southwest side of the island. From there, a short hiking trail over a rocky ridge on the north side of the island. The interior of the island should not be entered for the protection of vegetation as possible.
