Snell is an impact crater in the east of the Moon front, on the southeastern edge of Mare Fecunditatis, southwest of the crater Petavius and north of Stevinus. The rim is heavily eroded, uneven inside.
South of Snell runs the Moon Valley Vallis Snell in a northwesterly direction.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Dutch astronomer and mathematician Willibrord van Roijen Snell.
