Snell is an impact crater in the east of the Moon front, on the southeastern edge of Mare Fecunditatis, southwest of the crater Petavius ​​and north of Stevinus. The rim is heavily eroded, uneven inside.

South of Snell runs the Moon Valley Vallis Snell in a northwesterly direction.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Dutch astronomer and mathematician Willibrord van Roijen Snell.
