Snookum Russell

Snookum Russell ( born April 6, 1913 in Columbia, South Carolina as Isaac Edward Russell; † August 1981) was an American pianist and bandleader.

Snookum Russell first played percussion and piano in local orchestras and worked from 1933 to 1939 as a bass player in a band in Florida. Meaning he got by an orchestra, which he headed from 1939 to 1950 and were among the among others temporarily Fats Navarro, JJ Johnson and Ray Brown. In 1959, he worked as a soloist in New Orleans.
