Documents

Sobeknacht is primarily known for his rock grave in el- Kab. This grave had a decorated with paintings chapel and underground grave chambers. From the Second Intermediate Period, there are very few out painted grave sites and of these few remaining copies this time, the Chapel of the largest Sobeknacht Represents the rock grave was the research has long been known and was published in 1896 in a monograph. In the grave there is also the image of the Vorzeichners Sedjemnetjeru, who obviously was therefore the senior artists in the decoration of the tomb. It is one of the very few examples from ancient Egypt, where such an artist is known by name.

Since 2003 there has been a renewed expedition, which started the grave again. Here they found a new inscription which had been overlooked in the first processing of the grave. In this inscription now Sobeknacht reported that the Nubians had started together with the people from Punt a foray into Egypt, plundered the country and were then beaten by the Egyptians.

The Nubians are surely the people of Kerma culture. In Kerma itself is now also found very many Egyptian objects, one of which was previously thought that they were negotiated by Egypt. This new inscription shows how powerful was the Kerma culture at that time and that it appears like the spoils of Egypt in these Egyptian objects.
