Social Democrat Hunchakian Party

The Social Democratic Hunchak Party ( SDHP, Armenian Սոցիալ Դեմոկրատ Հնչակյան Կուսակցություն; ՍԴՀԿ, Russian Социал - демократическая партия Гнчакян, Arabic حزب الهنشاق الديمقراطي الاجتماعي, French Parti social démocrate Hentchak ) is the oldest Armenian political party and was the first socialist party in the Ottoman Empire and Persia.

It was founded in 1887 by a group of students from the University of Geneva in Switzerland - with the aim of Armenia's independence from the Ottoman Empire. Although Marxist oriented, and the use of terrorist means has been advocated to achieve this goal.

Many members of the party were killed during the genocide of the Armenians. Has become famous among other things, the execution of 20 activists on June 15, 1915.
