Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united)

The United Socialist Party of Ukraine (in short: VSDPU, sometimes short SDPU ) is a social democratic political party in Ukraine. It is no longer represented in the Ukrainian Parliament since 2006.

History

The VSDPU was created in 1996 as an association of the Ukrainian Party of Justice, the Party of human rights and the previous Social Democratic Party of Ukraine. In 1998, the Ukrainian Social Democratic Party ( USDP ) split off by internal disputes, the later the Bloc Yulia Tymoshenko belonged and in 2012 merged with the Party of Regions. In 2000, the VSDPU founded his own publishing house. At that time she published several own newspapers. Even in 2003, ordered the party of nearly 350,000 members.

In the parliamentary elections of 2006 the party joined in as part of the opposition alliance Ne Tak, which could unite only 1.01 % of the valid votes. Also in the 2007 parliamentary elections the VSDPU won no seats and is therefore politically increasingly meaningless. 2009, the party involved in the block left-wing forces and supported in this context, the presidential candidate of the Communist Pyotr Simonenko. Political orientation and meaning

The party sees himself in the tradition of social democracy and considers himself after self- representation as the sole legitimate representative in Ukraine. The right to represent the Social Democrats raise in Ukraine nor any other party: The USDP as part of the block Yulia Tymoshenko, the Socialist Party of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Labor Party, which belongs to the alliance Blok Lytwyna.

In the Socialist International, Ukraine will continue to be represented despite their immateriality of the SDPU.
