Sofia Johansdotter Gyllenhielm

Sofia Elisabeth Johansdotter Gyllenhielm (* 1556 or 1559; † June 1, 1583 in Tallinn, dates uncertain) was the illegitimate daughter of Swedish King John III. and his mistress Katarina Hans Dotter ( 1539-1596 ).

Sofia was first maid on her father's farm. Together with her ​​siblings Julius Johansson (1560-1581) and Lucretia Johansdotter (1562-1585) was knighted in 1577 she by her father and was named Gyllenhielm.

On February 4, 1580 Sofia Gyllenhielm married in the church of the castle of Vadstena the Swedish generals Pontus De la Gardie.

Sofia Gyllenhielm died in the summer of 1583 in the puerperium. It is her husband buried as in the cathedral of Tallinn.
