Katarina Hans yolk was the daughter of the former monk Hans Klasson Kökkemäster and his wife Ingeborg. She was active in the 1550s at the court of Queen Catherine Stenbock ( 1535-1621 ). There was the future King John III. (1537-1592) a liking to her. She sat down as the official mistress Johanns on the Turku Castle.

Katarina Hans yolk gave birth to John III. four children. The children were raised in 1577 under the name Gyllenhielm to the peerage. Only Gyllenhielm Sofia (1559-1585), Julius Gyllenhielm (1560-1581) and Lucretia Gyllenhielm (1562-1585) reached adulthood. The son August Johansson died as a child.

Katarina Hans yolk was 1561 by King John III. leave, as this for political reasons in 1562, the younger sister of the Polish king Sigismund II Augustus, Catherine Jagellonica married.
