Sofia Polgar

Zsófia Polgár [ ʒo ː fiɒ polɡa ː r] ( born November 2, 1974 in Budapest) is a Hungarian chess player. Zsuzsa Polgár Judit and her sisters are and László Polgár her father.

Life

Her best tournament result they achieved in 1989 at the age of 14 at a tournament in Rome, which they won with 8.5 points from 9 games in front of several grandmasters.

In the Chess Olympiads in 1988 and 1990, she won the Hungarian team gold medal and 1994 silver. Overall, it took from 1988 to 1996 at four Chess Olympiads. In the individual competition she won in 1990 and 1994 respectively gold and a bronze medal in 1996.

In 1986, she was in San Juan U14 World Champion, 1994 Matinhos with 9 Points Vice World Champion U20. She took part in the men's competition there.

In 1990 she was awarded the title of FIDE International Master of Men (IM). In 1988 she already got the title International Champion of Women (WIM), and since 1989 it also carries the title of Grand Champion of Women ( WGM ).

On February 7, 1999, she married the Israeli chess grandmaster Yona Kosashvili and followed him to Israel. The couple has two sons.

Zsófia Polgar's Elo rating is 2450 (as of March 2011).
