Sofia ring road

The Sofia ring road ( Bulgarian Софийски околовръстен път / Sofijski okolowrasten pat) is a planned outer ring road that surrounds the Bulgarian capital Sofia as a bypass road today. It is a major traffic artery, the Sofia completely surrounded and has a length of about 60 km. Previously, the Ringstrasse as "Ring Road " was ( Bulg Околовръстно шосе / Okolowrastno Schose ) ( ie road ) called.

Course

The ring road is not consistently developed as a highway, many junctions are regulated even with traffic lights. On both sides of the ring road are brisk construction activity, and in the south, at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, mainly prestigious residential facilities will be constructed on the south side. Immediately adjacent to the ring road created a lot of new commercial properties.

The ring road is to be widened in several stages and made free of intersections, for which 300 million euros were estimated; 4 to 5 million euros per kilometer. Currently, she is only two lanes and four lanes only to some sections in many places. In the final stage of the Sofia ring will be expanded to six lanes on the entire length. Between Boulevard " Balgaria " Boulevard and " Simeonowsko Chaussee " and between Boulevard " Tsarigradsko Chaussee " Boulevard and " Botewgradsko Chaussee " the construction work has been completed. By the end of 2014, a further portion with a length of 4 km to be completed in the West.

Outside the ring road to the south, towards Vitosha mountain, Sofia City are four districts, known as " Vitosha Collar " ( Bulg " Витошка яка " / Witoschka jaka ) are referred to. These are the districts Knjaschewo, Bojana, Dragalewzi and Simeonowo. To the west lie the three districts of Sofia City Gorna Banja, Suchodol and Filipowzi outside the ring road.

The ring road is divided into two main sections:

  • The northern bypass (33 km) - Coming from the Trakija highway and highway Hemus direction, outgoing ( at Dolni Bogrov ), past Novi Iskar to the municipality Obelja
  • The southern ring road ( 32 km) - Coming from the Trakija highway at the foot of the Vitosha Mountain along up to the districts Filipowzi and Lyulin.
