Sofia Valley

The Sofiaebene ( Bulgarian Софийското поле [ sɔfiskɔ pɔʎə ] ) or the Sofia basin ( Bulg Софийска котловина [ sɔfiska kɔtɫovɪna ] ) is a vast plateau, which at an altitude of about 500 to 600 m above sea level in western Bulgaria near the border Serbia is located. The plane is the Wakarell Mountains, bounded on the north and northeast by the Balkan Mountains, in the southeast by the lots and to the south and southwest by the Wiskjar, Lyulin and Vitosha Mountains and to the northwest by the Sliwniza surveys. Five mountain passes lead to the level: the Iskar pass, Wladaja Pass, the Dragoman Pass, the Petro -Pass Chan and Botevgrad Pass.

Here lies the Bulgarian capital Sofia, whose name bears the plane. More cities will be Elin Pelin, Sliwniza and Kostinbrod.
