Soledad O'Brien

Soledad O'Brien ( born September 19, 1966 in St. James, New York) is an American journalist. From January 2012 to February 2013, she hosted the CNN morning show Starting Point. Previously they had jointly hosted with the unrelated Miles O'Brien 2003-2007 American Morning.

Prizes and awards

  • For the Discovery Channel show, The Know Zone, she won an Emmy.
  • In 2007, she received the President's Award from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
  • The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University awarded her the 2008 Goodermote Humanitarian Award.
  • In 2006, she was part of the Newsweek cover story, " 15 People Who Make America Great".
  • The Morehouse School of Medicine gives the Soledad O'Brien Freedom since 2008 's Voice Award.
