Solomon ben Samson

Solomon bar Simson of Mainz ( probably identical with the often mentioned Simeon Solomon bar chroniclers ) was a German - Jewish chronicler of 11-12. Century.

As an eyewitness to the massacres of Jews at Mainz in the first Crusade ( 1096 ), he wrote in 1140, the history of the Jewish Martyrs of Worms, Mainz, Speyer, and Cologne and the subsequent defeat of the Crusader armies in Hungary and Byzantium.

Later, the chronicle has been extended to a representation of the persecution of the Jews of Blois ( 1171 ). The Chronicles of Solomon served as a source for the chronicle of Eliezer ben Nathan (after 1146 ), which complements the description of a series of poems mourning for the martyrs, as well as for the history of the " Mainz Anonymous".
