Solomon Frensdorff

Salomon Frensdorff (* February 24, 1803 or 1804 in Hamburg, † March 23, 1880 in Hannover ) was a German Orientalist, who emerged mainly through his research on massorah.

He studied from 1830 to 1834 in Bonn, philosophy, philology, natural sciences and Jewish religion. Among his fellow students included Samson Raphael Hirsch and Abraham Geiger. In 1834 he moved to Frankfurt to study at Molitor on. He graduated in 1837.

His first job was as a senior teacher at the Jewish religious school in Hanover. In 1846 he received his doctorate at the University of Kiel, 1848 he was a lecturer at the Training Institute for Jewish teachers in Hanover.
