Something Corporate

Something Corporate is a rock band from Orange County ( California). While they assign themselves to the music direction of the piano rock, they are generally classified somewhere between pop and punk. You're currently on Drive- Thru Records and Geffen Records.

History

In September 1998, joined the singer and pianist Andrew McMahon, bassist Kevin " Clutch" Page and drummer Brian Ireland, which played music until then as 'Left Behind', with guitarist Josh Partington and Reuben Hernandez and founded so that ' Something Corporate '. The band's name is an ironic statement with which they want to express their contempt for the industrial assembly line music, the " corporate music ". The band released in September 2000 their demo CD Ready ... Break. March 27, 2001 Something Corporate officially announced a line-up change, in which Hernandez was permanently replaced by William Tell.

The quintet signed shortly after a record deal with Drive- Thru Records, which her ​​debut album 'Audio Boxer ' published on 2 October 2001. The critically acclaimed EP with only six songs began to be known after the California radio station KROQ had discovered the song If UC Jordan and added to the playlist. Otherwise, the EP was promoted with a tour of the U.S., performances in record stores from Tower Records and an appearance on Craig Kilborn 's Late Night Show on February 25, 2002. The success of the EP and a clause in the sales contract with Drive- Thru Records led to a contract signed with MCA which later merged with Geffen Records. On 21 May 2001 Something Corporate published her major label debut album Leaving Trough The Window, with the singles " I Woke Up In A Car" and " Punk Rock Princess ". The album reached # 1 in the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers charts, number 1 in the U.S. Billboard Alternative New Artist chart and # 101 in the U.S. Billboard 200 album charts. " Punk Rock Princess " made it after all, ranked 33 in the UK single charts. To shorten the time until the next album, Something Corporate published on 5 November 2002, a half-hour home video on DVD, entitled A Year In The Life. The single compilation Songs For Silent Movies was released on May 21, 2003 in Japan.
