Song and Dance

Song and Dance is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Don Black ( lyrics ). The remarkable thing is that the first act ( song ) of the work is completely sung, while the second act (Dance) consists mainly of dance performances.

Content

The first part of the work consists of the composed in 1979 by Webber song cycle Tell Me On a Sunday, which tells the story of an initially nameless young Englishwoman who is in New York and California in search of love. This part of the musical is a so -called "one -woman show " is: The female lead is the center of the action, sings all the songs and is continuously present on the stage.

The second part is the Variations, originally a cello concerto, which had Andrew Lloyd Webber composed for his brother in 1978 Julian Lloyd Webber ( Variations on Niccolò Paganini's famous theme of A minor Caprice ). This is set in the musical scene choreographed in a dance ensemble.

Both parts are singing through the final, " When You Want To Fall In Love ," in which the lead actress of the first act to a tune of the second act ( from the 5th variation ), merged into a final conclusion. This song is also known with other text as " Unexpected Song" and was published under this title as a single.
