Sony Alpha 58

The Sony α58 (SLT -A58 ) is a middle-class camera, which has been available since April 2013 in the German retail sector. It is the successor to the Sony α37 and how this has a partially transparent mirror. Sony calls this design "single -lens translucent camera", short SLT camera. As SLT offers phase comparison autofocus in Live View and an electronic viewfinder.

By using the partially transparent mirror instead of the usual folding mirror, which must fold up for the taking, it is possible to perform up to eight frames per second at constant refocusing. Also, by focusing in Live View mode with the same speed as is possible using the viewfinder. The α58 has, as usual with Sony, a built-in image stabilizer for the 20.1 - megapixel sensor.

The Sony α58 is available in the following versions:

  • SLT -A58 (camera without lens)
  • SLT- A58K ( 18-55 mm/3.5-5.6 camera with Sony lens )
  • SLT- A58M (camera with 18-135 mm/3.5-5.6 Sony lens )
  • SLT- A58Y (camera with 18-55 and 55-200 mm/3.5-5.6 mm/4-5.6 Sony lens )
