Sophie Tieck

Sophie Tieck, Sophie Bernhardi or Sophie von Knorring ( born February 28, 1775 in Berlin, † October 1, 1833 in Tallinn ) was a German poet and writer of romance.

Life

Sophie Tieck was the daughter of the rope-maker Johann Ludwig Tieck and his wife Anna Sophie Tieck. She was the second of three children and their starting conditions were significantly worse than that of their brothers, who later gained greater glory ( the poet Ludwig Tieck and Friedrich Tieck, the sculptor ). She could not go to high school and had to learn by their education.

1799 married Sophie Tieck a friend of her brother Louis, August Ferdinand Bernhardi. They had three children and was also active during their pregnancies as a writer. After a rather unhappy marriage, a flight through Europe and eventually divorcing Bernhardi she married Baron Karl Georg von Knorring (1773-1841) and moved in with him to Estonia.

She was the mother of the writer William Bernhardi and the historian Theodor von Bernhardi.

Works

Sophie Tieck left an extensive literary work: dramas, short stories, novels, short stories, poems and fairy tales. In it their unquenchable longings come to love, security, and home to the expression.
